THE TERRY McILKENNY FOUNDATION
Fulfilling a lifelong ambition, Terry McIlkenny and his husband of 30 years, Nat Di Maggio, took early retirement from their careers in the UK and relocated to Cambodia to set up Tribe Art Gallery in September 2018.
The gallery was an instant success partly due to Terry's ability to connect with and encourage creative talent.
Throughout his career he helped countless people get into university, progress in their career, reach their goals and above all be happy.
Sadly, Terry passed on in July 2020. However, Nat was determined to keep the gallery and Terry's legacy alive and the gallery and online business thrives to this day.
Terry's energy was enormous and will still carry on through others forever.
The Terry McIlkenny Foundation exists to help creative Cambodians to achieve their dreams.
Project 1. The Foundation has committed to provide our friend's son, Bunheng, education through to university graduation. Like many Cambodian mothers, Maridet has worked long and hard so she can pay his school fees, now it’s time for Mr. Terry to help them. The Foundation will pay 100% of his school and university fees so he and his family can have a better life.
Project 2. The Foundation will provide a visual arts scholarship in Terry's name at Phare Ponleu Selpak, which is an internationally renowned art school based in Battambang, Cambodia. The scholarship will be a full 3 year program which will include: all tuition fees; accommodation; food; paid internship. At least one new scholarship per year will be awarded allowing more and more Cambodians the opportunity to fill the world with their art.
